The Florida “Click It or Ticket” campaign starts t The Florida “Click It or Ticket” campaign starts this Monday, May 18th, and runs through May 31st.

The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office is taking part in this important safety initiative. Throughout the campaign, our deputies, including the Traffic Unit, will focus on high-visibility enforcement and public education surrounding seatbelt and child restraint laws across Alachua County. Residents can expect to see an increased law enforcement presence, especially near colleges and school campuses.

A seatbelt citation will result in a $109 fine and is considered a non-moving violation, meaning no points are added to your license. However, failing to properly secure a child in the appropriate car or booster seat can result in a $159 fine and is considered a moving violation, which will result in points on your license.

Seatbelts save lives, and ASO is committed to reducing traffic fatalities in Alachua County through education, enforcement, and community partnership. #clickitorticket #seatbeltsafety #publicsafety #publicservice #protectandserve

Deputies responded quickly and were able to safely capture and relocate the gator to a nearby body of water, all within about 30 minutes.

With all the rainy weather lately, it seems the gators are feeling a little extra adventurous. Then again, this is Gainesville… “the Swamp” nickname exists for a reason. #gators #theswamp #gainesville #gatornation #gators🐊
