School Zone Safety Program

Alachua County and the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office have launched a School Zone Speed Safety Program to protect students and enhance road safety during school hours.  Cameras have been installed in several school zones around the county to ensure drivers follow posted speed limits, creating a safer environment for children.  After a  30-day warning period that begins on April 24, 2026,  vehicles speeding during school hours will now receive a $100.00 fine with the notice of violation being sent through the mail. This program is facilitated through the Real-Time Crime Intelligence Center.

Intelligence-Led Policing and Intelligence/Crime Analysts

The Division includes Investigators assigned to an Intelligence-Led Policing Unit that focus on actionable intelligence and Prolific Offenders within Alachua County. Our Intelligence/Crime Analysts provide investigative and analytical support to all areas of ASO. They compile and disseminate crime and intelligence data to identify crime trends and enable the agency to focus resources effectively. They also share information with other law enforcement agencies and the Florida Fusion Center.
