Perez after he helped her yesterday during a call for service. The community member made sure to reach out to DS Perez’s supervisor to make sure they knew he was an asset to our agency. Here is a portion of the message that was passed along: β€œShe wanted me to know that D/S Perez listened to her issue and, through his professional demeanor and communication, made her feel heard and safe. This compliment falls in line with what I have noted regarding D/S Perez’s routine way of speaking to those that call for help.” WE SEE YOU, DS A. PEREZ!
Around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, a con Around 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 16, 2026, a concerned citizen called our Combined Communications Center after spotting several ducklings trapped in a storm drain near the intersection of NW 105th Drive and NW 28th Place in Gainesville. When DS S. Soultanian arrived, he found a group of ducklings quacking for help while their worried mama duck kept watch nearby. Determined to reunite the feathered family, DS Soultanian removed his body-worn vest to lighten the load, pulled back the heavy storm drain grate on his own, and positioned himself on a rescue mat, (equipment designed to quickly and safely move injured individuals out of harm’s way) to better reach the ducklings. The first eight ducklings were happy to accept their rescue, but ducklings nine, 10, and 11 proved to be a little more stubborn. After nearly 40 minutes of patience, persistence, and plenty of duck diplomacy, DS Soultanian successfully rescued the remaining three ducklings and reunited them with their relieved mama. He then replaced the grate cover, suited back up, and was ready to respond to his next call for service. No duckling left behind! #ducklovers #bodycam #duckfamily #gainesville #protectandserve
