During the late afternoon hours of Saturday, April 11, 2026, K9 DS J. Williams conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of Castle Drive on a white Chevrolet SUV for a traffic infraction.

When making contact with the driver, they give law enforcement consent to search the vehicle. The driver and the passengers, including 36-year-old Danielle Mitchell, exited the SUV. They denied having anything illegal inside the vehicle.

The search of the vehicle revealed 7.1 grams of Fentanyl, (as little as 2 milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal, and this quantity could represent 3,550 potentially fatal doses), a baggie with 18 MDMA pills, and a small amount of marijuana.

The investigation revealed the illegal narcotics belonged to Mitchell.

Mitchell was arrested and charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription, Possession of Marijuana Less than 20 Grams.
April 13th-19th marks National Public Safety Telec April 13th-19th marks National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, a time set aside to recognize and honor the dedicated 911 call takers, fire, EMS, and law enforcement dispatchers, and teletype operators who are essential to emergency response every single day.

Often called the โ€œfirst, first responders,โ€ telecommunicators are the calm voices on the other end of the line when someone needs help the most. While you may never see their faces, they work tirelessly behind the scenes, connecting callers to law enforcement, fire rescue, and emergency medical services; coordinating responses with precision and care. Much like glue, they help hold every moving piece together when seconds matter most.

Hear from some of the Telecommunicators at our Combined Communications Center as they share what inspired them to become the voice of help during a citizensโ€™ darkest moments. #publicsafety #publicservice #protectandserve #telecommunications #alachuacounty
