

Bonds may be posted inside the jail’s lobby area between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm at the window and after-hours by using the service window to the left of the front entrance of the jail.
Types of Releases
Purges
For inmates to be released on child support arrearage, the following steps need to be taken:
- The inmate, or other person, shall post the total purge amount, in cash, Cashier’s Check or Money Order, with the Clerk of the Court or this facility, or a court order, ROR or other release document must be received from the Court.
- Upon release of the inmate, the Booking Out Officer shall supply a copy of the release document to the inmate.
- The Booking Out Officer shall inform the inmate that he/she must keep the release document on his/her person for thirty (30) days or risk re-arrest.
Time-Served Releases
Inmates may be sentenced to the Department of the Jail for a period not to exceed one (1) year for each count. This sentence can be amended by obtaining gain time or mitigation by the sentencing judge. When releasing an inmate, the date of release is verified by Booking Support staff who ensure the judgment and sentence order is correct and accurate. If the sentence has been amended, a court order, stating the same, must be filed with the paperwork and the appropriate information.
Cash Bond Releases
The bond must be posted in cash, money order, or cashier’s check and made out to the “Clerk of the Court.” Money Orders and Cashier’s Checks shall include the inmate’s correct full name and MNI number. Booking Support staff will ensure that the depositor receives a copy of the bond as a receipt. Cash Bond monies shall be entered into the Cobra Banker system utilizing the bail option and a check issued to the Clerk of the Court for the cash bond.
Surety Bond Releases
- The inmate must use a certified bonding agency which is registered with the Alachua County Clerk of the Court and the ACSO to write bonds in Alachua County.
- The bond may not contain more than one (1) charge as dictated by Florida Statute.
- The total amount of the bond cannot exceed the power of the bond.
- Booking Support staff and the Booking Out Officer will ensure that the bond has not expired by checking the expiration date stamp on the face of the bond.
- Booking Support staff and the Booking Out Officer will ensure that the bond has been signed by the bondsperson and contains the proper case numbers and charges.
- The Booking Out Officer will print or stamp the name of the current Sheriff of Alachua County in designated space.
- The Booking Out Officer shall ensure that the defendant signs the bond in the designated space.
- Power numbers written onto the surety bond must match the numbers on the actual power.
