When it rains it pours! Yesterday afternoon, dur When it rains it pours!

Yesterday afternoon, during a mid-day Florida shower, our Deputies got a call about large bails of hay falling off of a truck and scattered all over I-75 causing a significant traffic hazard.

While in the pouring rain and doing his best to get the hay off of the roadway (wow that rhymes ๐Ÿคญ) Deputy Aldous observed a Good Samaritan pull up and jump out to help.

A fella by the name of Jacob Guest, who founded the Fishes and Loaves Food Pantry in Lindale, GA., didnโ€™t hesitate to jump into the pouring rain and help Deputies until the entire roadway had been cleared.

Needless to say Mr. Guest, we have found a friend in you! Thank You so very much for your generosity and we wish nothing but success for your food pantry ๐Ÿ’™

During the evening hours of Thursday, June 11, 2026, deputies responded to 2650 Bass Pro Shops Blvd regarding a retail theft in progress, where the suspects were reported to still be on scene.

Deputies met with the Loss Prevention Officer (LPO) at the store, who reported multiple thefts being committed by the same two individuals within a 30-day period, ranging from late May through June 11th. The two suspects were identified as 41-year-old Joshua Wilkes and his 13-year-old son. Through investigative techniques, law enforcement was able to confirm both individuals took more than $1,000 of merchandise from the retailer.

The LPO reported he observed both suspects come into the store earlier, select merchandise, and conceal it on their persons. The LPO told them to stop, but they ignored him and fled the store on foot. While maintaining sight of the suspects, the LPO contacted law enforcement and provided the suspects location. The LPO also observed the suspects discarding the stolen items while running off. Deputies arrived on scene, where they located both Wilkes and his teenage son, who were detained.

A search, incident to arrest, of Wilkes revealed .02 grams of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.

A query of Wilkes revealed he has two prior theft convictions.

Wilkes was charged with Organized Retail Theft, Resisting a Retail Merchant, Tampering with Evidence in a Criminal Proceeding, Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor, and Possession of a Controlled Substance without a Prescription.

The teen was also arrested and charged with Organized Retail Theft, Resisting a Retail Merchant, and Tampering with Evidence in a Criminal Proceeding.
