PROFESSIONALS IN SCHOOLS
As your Sheriff, I remain committed to having the most highly trained, well-equipped and most professional law enforcement agency in the country. I have demonstrated a long term belief in the presence of our deputies in our schools well before it became mandated by law. We must ensure that our children remain safe as they grow and progress through their school careers.
Working together with the School Board, students this year will have a new way to report suspicious activity. FortifyFL is a suspicious activity reporting tool that allows you to instantly relay information to appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials. Be sure to download the app on your phone today.
An accreditation program has long been recognized as a means of maintaining the highest standards of professionalism. Accreditation is the certification by an independent reviewing authority that an entity has met specific requirements and prescribed standards. Schools, universities, and hospitals are some of the most well-known organizations that are required to maintain accreditation.
Law enforcement at the Sheriff’s Office has been accredited by Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. (CFA) since 1997. We are currently accredited at the Excelsior Level. Our Department of the Jail has been accredited by the Florida Corrections Accreditation Commission (FCAC) since 1999. It is also accredited at the Excelsior Level. The Excelsior Level is the highest level of accreditation that is given. The Communications Center has been accredited by The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), since 2002. They are accredited at the highest level as a Flagship/Gold Standard Center.
You can rest assured that if you need us we are here, well trained, professional and ready to handle any emergency that arises. We are, One Agency, One Mission. To Protect, Serve and Support the Community with Integrity.
