On April 18, 1994, the remains of 24-year-old Robert Howards were discovered in a wooded area near SW Archer Road and SW 170th Street by two individuals walking in the area. After making the discovery, they returned home and contacted law enforcement.

Robert Howards had previously been reported missing on August 5, 1992. Witnesses last saw him in the vicinity of the Arredondo Farms (currently known as the Palms of Archer) neighborhood.

As we reflect on this case, we remain committed to seeking answers and pursuing justice for Robert Howards and his loved ones. We recognize the passage of time does not lessen the impact of his loss, and this case remains an active priority.

We are asking for the community’s assistance. If you have any information related to this case, or any of our cold cases, please contact Sergeant Michael Cooper at mbcooper@acso.us or 352-367-4163. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Alachua County Crime Stoppers at 352-372-STOP.
